DAISY: Recognizing Extraordinary Nurse Leaders in Healthcare Design.

The DAISY Foundation is the leading international organization for nursing recognition. Through collaborations with professional healthcare organizations such as NIHD, they hope to benefit the nursing profession overall, sharing the important role that nurses play in our society.

NIHD has partnered with DAISY as a Supportive Organization to create the first DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Leader in Healthcare Design. This DAISY Nurse Leader Award is open to individual nurses who are actively engaged in healthcare design. This includes nurses who consult, assist, advise, or work in creating better spaces for patients and families.

This October, NIHD awarded Abbie Ochsner, MSN, BS, RN, LSSBB, Director of Oncology Infusion Services at St. Elizabeth Healthcare with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Leader in Healthcare Design! According to her nominator,

As the director of oncology services, her role was pivotal in conducting a Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) - the final step in the 8-step evidence-based design process - of the new infusion center that was opened on St. Elizabeth campus in 2020.

Ms. Ochsner was recognized with this prestigious award at the 2024 Healthcare Design Conference + Expo, helping NIHD fulfill its mission to advocate for the engagement and integration of clinical expertise into the planning and design of built healthcare environments.
